Over 100 followers and still not eligible for Medium Partner Programme

How I Joined Medium
I was introduced to Medium in February 2022, by a friend who told me that you could earn from writing articles. I have written for years, but I never considered making it a source of income. This was a great opportunity to write on topics that I love without restrictions, and get rewarded for it. It was great motivation.
However, she didn’t disclose the requirements that make you eligible to earn. My first article had over 4 minutes of member reading time and no earnings. That’s when I read about the eligibility criteria to join the partner programme.
The requirements were; I must have published at least one story, which I had passed. The second requirement was, I must be active on medium, which I was, and finally I needed to have at least 100 followers. I only had one follower and the journey to 100 seemed far off reach.
After about a month, I clicked 100 followers. On the same day, I applied for the Partner Programme. It Shocked me that I still didn’t qualify for earning! This is because I reside in Africa. African, Pacific, Caribbean and several other countries do not qualify for the Partner Programme.
You can’t apply for a Partner Programme if you don’t reside in the countries below;
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States.
Why I Choose to Stay
It’s unfortunate. I feel left out, as I love the freedom that the Medium community gives us to express ourselves through writing. I may not be the greatest writer and probably could never have earned the coveted $100 figure a month, but I love it here.
I love that I connect with great writers and I learn a lot. I appreciate all my followers and future followers.
